The University of Ghana has cemented its status as the top university in Ghana, according to Professor Nana Aba Amfo, vice chancellor of the university.
At the law school’s 2023 congregation, she made this announcement.
A total of 310 undergraduate students from 46 nations, including Botswana, China, and Canada, received degrees.
They came from the University of Ghana Medical School, the School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences, and the School of Law.
As part of the university’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the special congregation is the final group of graduates.

Lady and gentleman, I’m happy to report that the University of Ghana has reached a significant milestone by being among the top 6.1% of universities worldwide in the Global 2000 List created by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR) for the year 2023. The University’s status as the premier institution in Ghana is further cemented by this remarkable accolade.
Only the top 2000 colleges from a comprehensive evaluation of 20,531 universities globally by the CWUR made the Global 2000 ranking. Seven objective indicators, spread across four categories—education quality, alumni employment, faculty quality, and research performance—were used to determine rankings.
The University of Ghana won the competition with a score of an amazing 69.1. The University of Ghana’s outstanding performance made it the second-best university in the West Africa Region, she said.
The Vice Chancellor stated that the University Council had approved the return of the Accra City Campus to a partially autonomous institution of the University in relation to the additional campuses that were being considered.
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission has given its approval for the formation of the Takoradi and Kumasi City Campuses of the University, and accreditation procedures are nearly finished so that the campuses can begin admitting students in the upcoming academic year. The creation of the new campuses will expand the number of openings for undergraduate enrollment and introduce the UG brand and standards to the Ashanti and Western regions.
Nana Adjoa Hackman, a guest speaker and co-founder of Africa Legal Associates, claimed that the advent of artificial intelligence has increased the need for attorneys to be more creative.
She urged the law students to be flexible and savvy, as well as to seize the chance provided by the recently created.
The year’s valedictorian was declared to be Abigail Nakuor Wowolor.
