Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has revealed that he recorded his hit song “On God” in the company of angels in his room.
Known for his innovative and versatile approach to music, Shatta Wale released the hit song “On God” in 2022, quickly winning over fans and becoming an anthem for countless music enthusiasts.
During an interview on Rants, Bants, and Confessions hosted by Efia Odo, the “Killa Ji Mi” hitmaker, Shatta Wale, explained the inspiration behind recording “On God.” He revealed that the comparisons between him and Black Sherif by some in the music industry served as the driving force.
He said, “When Black Sherif emerged, there were a lot of comparisons, but I’m the kind of person who could end someone’s career with just one song. Hearing those comments pushed me to record ‘On God,’ and I thought, ‘God, why are you letting these people do this to me? Let’s show them something.”
“I was in my room, and while I was playing the song, angels were present with me—that’s something people aren’t aware of.”
“The song had a profound spiritual significance for me long before it was released. So, when I see all these comparisons, I think, ‘Don’t try to challenge something you don’t fully understand,’” Wale explained.
He also confidently stated, “In the Ghanaian entertainment industry, I am like the phoenix.
