Partey’s injury doesn’t look good, says Mikel Arteta.

Thomas Partey, the manager of Arsenal, has acknowledged that the midfielder’s injury is serious and that he will be absent for a number of weeks.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), which revealed Chris Hughton’s 25-man team for Ghana’s final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Central African Republic, confirmed the midfielder’s injury on Saturday.

The 30-year-old’s health was confirmed by the Spanish manager prior to their pivotal Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday at the Emirates.

“It doesn’t seem promising. He felt something during training, and although we still need to do a few more tests, Arteta predicted that he would be out for a few weeks.

“Today was a game for him to play in a different position, but he is not available,” the coach said. “He had the ability to play in various positions.”

Partey wasn’t present, but the Gunners still defeated the Red Devils 3-1 owing to a contentious Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervention that prevented Manchester United from scoring after two quick goals from Arsenal in the waning seconds of the thrilling match.

In Partey’s absence, the Black Stars, on the other hand, will have to rely on the availability of Salis Abdul Samed, Baba Iddrisu’s return, and Ilisha Owusu, among others, in order to succeed and advance to the 2019 AFCON, which will be held in Ivory Coast.
