Anal sex is now Ghanaian women favorite

Contrary to popular belief that men force women into having anal sex against their choice, the Ghana AIDS Commission has found that anal intercourse has become the preferred method of sex for the majority of Ghanaian women.

On Monday’s episode of Burning Issues on Accra-based Adom FM, the Director General, Dr. Kyeremeh Atuahene, revealed this fascinating trend while discussing HIV/AIDS risk factors.

“Anal sex is not happening only between a man and his fellow man but also between a man and a woman. It has become a new trend or fun among some groups of women. Men who have sex with colleague men, their chance or risk of getting HIV is 28 times higher than those who do not have anal sex.” Dr. Kyeremeh said.

He stated that by the end of 2022, 355,000 people had contracted the feared virus, while cautioning that those who inject illicit drugs and have anal sexual intercourse are more likely to become infected with HIV/AIDS.

Out of the alarming total, 289,718 were adults aged 25 and older, 40,497 were teenagers and young adults (15 to 24), and 24,712 were young children (0 to 14), Dr. Atuahene continued.

He said that when the statistics were broken down to the regional level, the Eastern and Bono regions had the highest numbers with 2.2%, Greater Accra had 2%, Western North had 1.9%, Ashanti had 1.9%, Bono East had 1.8%, Ahafo had 1.7%, Western Region had 1.6%, Volta had 1.5, Oti had 1.3%, Upper West had 1.2%, and North East had 0.45%.

Dr. Atuahene claimed that there is at least one person living with HIV/AIDS in every social group, including pastors, preachers, chiefs, teachers, journalists, and a wide range of other professions.
