The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is fully aware of the planning that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) engaged in to win the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat in the last general elections in 2020, according to actor John Dumelo.
He told the NDC that the NPP would not be permitted to repeat these actions in the 2024 general elections.
“We are working to ensure that we win the 2024 elections; we know what the NPP did in Ayawaso West Wuogon, and we are working.” “The hardworking executives will not allow that to happen,” Mr Dumelo remarked on Monday’s Ghana Tonight Show on TV3.
The NDC endorsed him as the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency parliamentary candidate.
This came after the party announced that the two other competitors had agreed to drop out of the race to support Mr Dumelo.
“As a result of this harmonious agreement, we proudly endorse and present Mr John Dumelo as the official NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections,” said constituency chairman Bismark Ahorvi Ayitey in a statement issued on Sunday, August 13.
It should be noted that movie producer Fred Nuamah withdrew from the NDC parliamentary primary in Ayawaso West Wuogon to endorse his fellow mover maker John Dumelo.
He already expressed his intention to run in the primaries, following in the footsteps of John Dumelo. He further claimed that Dumelo had given him permission to run in that particular constituency, which Dumelo categorically rejected.
However, while announcing his resignation from the contest, Fred Nuamah stated, “I firmly believe that the NDC must present a unified front for the general elections in 2024.” As a committed member of the NDC, I prioritise party unity and President John Mahama’s agenda to save our country.”
“I wholeheartedly endorse and support my good friend and brother, Mr. John Dumelo, as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency,” he added.
“I urge all my supporters at all levels of the party in the constituency to rally behind John Dumelo and provide him with the necessary support,” he continued. We can win the 2024 elections and raise our country out of its current predicament if we work together, with a revitalised feeling of unity.”
