Eight individuals, including mourners, lost their lives in an accident on the Sunyani-Berekum highway last Saturday.
Ten people were involved in the accident, which resulted in the deaths of five males and three females. The crash occurred between a Toyota Corolla taxi and a private vehicle owned by Great Wall School.
The taxi, registered as AS 4819-17, was transporting four passengers from Sunyani to Berekum, while the private vehicle, with registration GN 5753-12, was carrying four mourners from Dormaa-Ahenkro to Sunyani. The accident took place around 2:30 p.m. at Amanfoso when the driver of the Great Wall car allegedly lost control and crossed into the taxi’s lane, resulting in the crash. The injured were promptly taken to Berekum Holy Family Hospital and Sunyani Teaching Hospital for medical care.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) told the media that all the eight occupants in the two vehicles had died due to the severe impact of the accident, while the identity of the drivers were yet to be made known to the police.road
