
Former Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty after the Crown Prosecution Service charged him with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault—allegations involving three women between 2021 and 2022.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the charges after a three-year Metropolitan Police investigation, and Partеy is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
He has vehemently denied all allegations through his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, stating he fully cooperated with authorities and is eager to clear his name. Wiltshire also noted he will refrain from further public comment during the ongoing legal process .
Jaswant Narwal of the CPS stated that after reviewing a thorough police file, charges were warranted. She emphasized the importance of safeguarding fair trial principles and avoiding prejudicial reporting .

Narwal warned that the defendant is entitled to a fair trial and urged the public to avoid any reporting, commentary, or online sharing that could prejudice the case.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy of the Metropolitan Police reaffirmed their ongoing support for the women involved and encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
These charges were announced shortly after Partey officially departed from Arsenal, where he made 130 appearances over five seasons. The Ghanaian midfielder joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atlético Madrid, where he contributed to their 2018 UEFA Europa League victory. Internationally, Partey has earned 53 caps and scored 15 goals for Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars.
