The former Ghana international mentioned that some players, such as left-back Baba Rahman, had declined invitations to play for their country because of mistreatment in the past.

After receiving jeers and hate mail online, Rahman—who has been doing admirably for PAOK in Greece—decided to concentrate just on club football.

“You are free to criticize me when I’m incorrect, and you are free to criticize the players when things aren’t going well for them. However, it is incorrect for you or the supporters to make fun of the players, Addo stated.

“They have wives, families, children, and friends,” he continued. They are affected when they witness these insults. Coaches provide invitations to players to join the national team. Therefore, it is our duty to stop any behavior that would present players in a bad light.

Ahead of Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Angola, Addo expressed optimism for a successful start to the new season.
