Stonebwoy clarifies His Statement on Being the Only Artiste in His Class to Fill Accra Stadium

Stonebwoy has clarified his recent statement regarding his self-sponsored BHIM concert scheduled for December 2023.

The ‘Jejereje’ hitmaker recently made headlines after claiming that no other artiste in his category had managed to sell out the Accra Sports Stadium without sponsorship, a feat he accomplished with his concert.

Stonebwoy made the comment during an interview with 3Music on November 18. However, in a clarification on Hitz FM on November 28, he explained that his remarks were a response to statements made by artiste manager Gomski, who had suggested that Dancehall music was a problem within the Ghanaian music scene. Stonebwoy rejected this claim, stressing the significant economic impact of the Dancehall genre.

He emphasized that Dancehall events play a crucial role in the economy by generating revenue for local businesses, hotels, and airlines.

He asserted, “I was pointing to the fact that… Dancehall filled the stadium and created numerous job opportunities. The economic impact cannot be denied.”

Stonebwoy further emphasized that his achievements, such as filling the Accra Sports Stadium and self-sponsoring his concert, are well-known and should not be downplayed due to industry politics. He stated that these milestones speak for themselves and should be recognized for their significance in the music and entertainment industry.

The reggae-dancehall artist also reiterated that his comment about filling the Accra Sports Stadium was specifically meant to highlight the fact that he achieved this feat “without sponsorship.” He stressed that the accomplishment was not just about the size of the venue, but the fact that he managed to do it independently, which he believes showcases his dedication, influence, and ability to carry out large-scale projects on his own.
