Shatta Wale, Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, has explained why his legal dispute with his former manager, Bullgod, remains unresolved.
Bullgod recently filed a lawsuit against Shatta Wale, following an earlier defamation case against the artist last year.In an interview on BTM Afrika with , Shatta Wale revealed that he and Bullgod had agreed on an out-of-court settlement last year, following advice from the judge overseeing the defamation case.
The ‘Ayoo’ hitmaker, Shatta Wale, revealed that an amount of GH₵100,000 was agreed upon as a legal settlement to be paid to Bullgod, but he has not yet fulfilled the payment. Explaining the delay, Shatta stated that Bullgod was unavailable when his team attempted to make the payment.
Shatta Wale emphasized that nobody has defaulted on paying Bullgod’s money, stating that Bullgod did not even chase the payment. He explained that Bullgod was in America when his team tried to make the payment, and now that he is in Ghana, Shatta questioned what steps he had taken to resolve the issue, noting that Bullgod had not reached out to anyone. The ‘Killa Ji Mi’ crooner also asserted that Bullgod’s return to court is a “waste of time” since the case had already been settled.
Shatta Wale joked that Bullgod enjoys going to court because it’s so close to his home, saying he goes to court for the smallest reasons, like a chicken clucking or a taxi driver honking.
In late 2022, Bullgod sued Shatta Wale for defamation after the musician threatened to reveal secrets about the death of Fennec Okyere, a late artiste manager. In March 2023, both parties agreed to an out-of-court settlement, which was confirmed by Bullgod’s lawyer, Justice Srem Sai. However, Shatta Wale has yet to pay the agreed GH₵100,000 legal fee to Bullgod and his lawyers.
