Season 2 of Nigerian Movie ‘Anikulapo’ to be shot in Ghana

One of Nigeria’s Top Trendy Movies ‘Anikulapo’ season two is set to be shot in Ghana.

The famous Nigerian movie Producer, Kunle Afolayan has revealed his intention to shoot  Season 2 of the award-winning Nigerian movie, ‘Anikulapo’  in Ghana.

It was produced and shot on 40 acres of land with all infrastructure and buildings all built from scratch to suit the production while also intending to make it a film village.

The film has received many awards including winning the Overall Best Movie in Africa at the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards last year.

Kunle Afolayan is also the producer of the award-winning movie, Anikulapo.

Kunle Afolayan further disclosed that this decision is by the National Film Authority’s (NFA) “Shoot in Ghana” initiative which is directed towards making Ghana a hub of movie production.

Mr. Afolayan made the disclosure  through Graphic.com   at the Nigeria International Film and TV Summit (NIFS) which was  held recently in Cannes, France.

The summit  saw various film industry gurus and media personalities including the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s National Film Authority, Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante all inattendance.

“This is an important development. The shooting of parts of Anikulapo in Ghana is a good opportunity to revive and enhance the film relationship between Ghana and Nigeria. Both countries stand to gain greatly from collaborating deeply and exploring each other’s markets and strengths,” she added.

Miss Asante The C.E.O of Ghana’s National Film Authority has been rooting for the  “Shoot in Ghana” initiative by encouraging a large number of  African filmmakers to shoot in Ghana.

Anikulapo, Kunle Afolayan’s production partnered  with Netflix and was  produced and filmed  by the renowned cinematographer Jonathan Kovel in 2022.

The plot actually covered   40 acres of land with all infrastructure and buildings all built from scratch purposely to suit the production and  also intending to make it a film village.

This movie has received many  awards which includes the Overall Best Movie in Africa at the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in 2023.

The #Shoot in Ghana# campaign got  launched two years ago and has seen tremendous successes, including the   Super Bowl commercial released in February this year. Shooting Anikulapo is going  to add up its initiative’s growing commitment.
