Reggae Dancehall icon Emmanuel Andrew Samini has praised President Mahama and his administration for taking action against former officials of ex-President Akufo-Addo’s government accused of misappropriating state funds.
Samini, a strong supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed his approval of the efforts made by the ORAL team, the Attorney-General, and investigative agencies under the current government. In an interview with George Quaye on Joy Prime on June 18, 2025, he openly praised the government for the progress made in investigating corruption cases and prosecuting those involved. Despite his loyalty to the NPP, Samini acknowledged his admiration for the Mahama administration’s commitment to holding former officials accountable.
He said, “As I speak to you, I am a happy Ghanaian because I see that people are being held accountable and justice is being served—or at least it appears that justice will be served.”
He stated, “I won’t stay silent or tread carefully just because someone I support might be facing trouble, especially when there are legitimate issues involved.”
He expressed that, as a patriotic Ghanaian, he hopes public officials who misappropriate or steal state funds are held fully accountable under the law. Samini stated, “I believe that when you hold public office, it is your duty to protect Ghana and manage public resources responsibly, but if you engage in any wrongdoing, you must be brought to justice.”
He added, “The President and the Judiciary are doing a good job. So far, that is where I have seen the most action; regarding other areas, I think it is too soon to say much.”
