Six supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Amenfi Central constituency sustained injuries during an attack on the party’s parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, by suspected thugs.

The parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, escaped unharmed during the incident, which occurred on Saturday night, November 30, as she and her entourage were returning from a campaign event at Adjakaamanso.

The suspected thugs caused significant damage to her campaign vehicle, smashing its windows and leaving it in a battered state. During the violent attack, several individuals in her entourage suffered injuries, with wounds reported on their heads, hands, and legs. These injuries ranged in severity, highlighting the brutal nature of the assault and its impact on the victims.

The injured supporters are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, while the incident has been reported to the Wassa Dominase Police Station for further investigation. According to one of the victims, whose name has been withheld, Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe and her entourage were returning from a campaign event at Adjakaamanso when the attack occurred.

According to the victim, the incident began when a vehicle suddenly intercepted Joana Gyan’s campaign vehicle, blocking its path. The occupants of the intercepted vehicle then launched an aggressive attack, allegedly smashing the campaign vehicle and causing significant damage. The victims, who were part of Madam Gyan’s entourage, were caught off guard and sustained injuries during the assault.

As of now, the reasons behind the attack remain unclear, and no official statement regarding the motive has been provided. The case has been reported to the Wassa Dominase Police Station, and investigations are currently underway to uncover the details surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
