NDC Disputes Re-Compiled Election Results, Accuses EC of manipulation

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has firmly rejected the revised parliamentary election results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) for multiple constituencies on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

The party asserted that the results were declared under questionable and illegal circumstances, labeling them as a “blatant violation” of Ghana’s democratic principles and a betrayal of the people’s will.

In a statement signed by NDC General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party accused the Electoral Commission (EC), headed by Jean Mensa, of actions that undermine the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process. The NDC contended that the EC’s actions had damaged its credibility and heightened public distrust in the institution.

The statement further raised concerns over an alleged “unholy alliance” between the EC, the police, and the military, which the NDC claimed facilitated the manipulation of election results to favor the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Additionally, the NDC criticized the EC for ignoring a Stay of Execution order from the court, describing it as a blatant violation of the rule of law.

The NDC, expressing disappointment at the silence of the National Peace Council and other moral institutions, called on the international community to take notice of the EC’s actions. The party warned that these actions represent a serious threat to Ghana’s peace, stability, and democratic advancement.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Ghana’s democracy and vowed to oppose any efforts to undermine the people’s mandate as expressed in the December 7 general elections.

“The NDC will continue to mobilize its supporters and rally Ghanaians to resist any attempt to overturn the people’s mandate. Together, we will uphold the principles of democracy and secure a better future for our country,” the statement concluded.
