Moroccan Women’s team makes History in the Fifa Women’s WorldCup.

Morocco accomplished an unprecedented achievement by defeating Colombia to go to the round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup on their first appearance. But with this victory, Colombia advances as the group H champion.

Morocco, who joined Nigeria and South Africa as the third African team in the round of 16, advanced to the knockout rounds as a result of Germany’s failure to defeat South Korea.

Anissa Lahmari became Morocco’s heroine  by scoring the winning goal on a rebound after captain Ghizlane Chebbak’s penalty shot had been initially stopped.

After a difficult opening game in which they lost to Germany 6-0, Morocco bounced back with two victories to guarantee their place in the round of 16. France will now be their opponent in Adelaide.

Based on goal differential, Colombia finishes ahead of Morocco in the group after claiming two victories in their first two games. They will play Jamaica, who defeated Brazil to advance to the next round, on August 8 in Melbourne.
