Moises Caicedo has finalised his move to Chelsea from Brighton and Hove Albion following months of negotiations between the two teams.
After passing medicals earlier in the day, the player was introduced on Monday afternoon.
With a cost of £100+15 million, the 21-year-old becomes the potentially most expensive Premier League acquisition.
Caicedo agreed to terms with the Blues on an eight-year deal that includes a one-year extension option.
“I am overjoyed to be joining Chelsea! “I am overjoyed to be here at this big club, and I didn’t hesitate when Chelsea called,” Caicedo said.
“I just knew I wanted to sign with Chelsea.”
“It’s like a dream come true for me to be here, and I can’t wait.”
Chelsea faced competition from Liverpool for the highly sought-after midfielder after the news.
While Chelsea planned to offer £100 million for the Ecuadorian, Liverpool countered with a proposal of £111 million, which Brighton and Hove Albion accepted. Caicedo, though, declined to join the Reds, leaving Chelsea as the sole bidders.
