Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul: Jake Paul Beats Former World Heavyweight Champion By Unanimous Decision

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson’s first fight in 19 years, Jake Paul defeated the former world heavyweight champion by majority decision.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer won the eight-round bout, which was broadcast on Netflix and took place at Texas’ AT&T Stadium, 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73.

In the first round, Paul, 27, took advantage of his youth to put distance on Tyson, 58, by repeatedly closing the distance and launching a jab.

Before the two men clinched, Tyson managed to catch Paul with a few powerful body blows, which caused the crowd to boo loudly.

Similar tactics were used in the second round, with Paul trying his hardest to dodge Tyson’s renownedly powerful strikes before clinching once more.

The third round started off considerably more violently, with Paul landing a string of left hooks on Tyson after he came out swinging.

Gaining self-assurance, the YouTuber kept hitting a static Tyson with strong strikes, and he appeared appreciative of the bell at the end of the round.

At the beginning of the fourth, both boxers missed jabs, but Tyson found it difficult to keep up with Paul, who was able to pick and choose his areas on the progressively exhausted Tyson.

Tyson tried his best to employ vertical mobility to evade Paul’s attacks, but the former heavyweight champion was able to end the round with a strong overhand right after Paul opened the fight with a powerful one-two combo.

Before the two engaged in a flurry of powerful blows throughout the seventh, which culminated with Tyson taking a shot to the head, Tyson held his ground in the sixth, sending Paul reeling from every attempted attack.

However, Tyson took his time coming off the corner stool, and the fight was all but finished going into the final round.

As the bell rang, the two embraced, with little of Tyson’s renowned power remaining in any of his blows.

Paul acknowledged during his press conference after the fight that he didn’t want to harm Tyson, who was becoming old and barely making it in the ring.

“I wanted to give the fans a show but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt,” Paul stated.

“No, Mike’s authority was not felt by me. I made an effort to fight as hard as I could, but it’s difficult to make a fight exciting when the opponent is barely making it through the ring.

“I was unable to persuade him to interact with me, make a slip shot, or do anything really amazing. I don’t give a damn about what people think; they will always have something to say.

“He wasn’t really responding at one point, and I wasn’t sure if that was because he was weary. I have a great deal of respect for him, and I could see that he was becoming a little older.

“That violence and war thing between us, after he slapped me, I wanted to be aggressive, take him down and knock him out, but that went away as the rounds went on.”

Mike Tyson won’t rule out going back into the ring.

Tyson left room for more battles after his first competitive match in 19 years.”I don’t know,” Tyson said to Netflix when asked if it was the final time he would be spotted in a ring. Depending on the circumstances, yes. Not in my opinion.

Tyson identified Paul’s brother Logan among the crowd when asked who he might face in the future.

“Absolutely happy” with his performance, the former world heavyweight champion added.

Tyson went on, “I knew [Paul] was a good fighter,” “I only proved myself, not anyone else.

“I’m not one of these guys who goes out to please the world, I’m just happy with what I can do.”
