Mahama Promises to Build a Bridge Over Afram River for Afram Plains

John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to construct a bridge over the Afram River for the people of Afram Plains if he is elected as President of Ghana.

Additionally, he promised that his government would work to enhance the road infrastructure in the region.

Mr. John Dramani Mahama made this statement on his Facebook page after kicking off his campaign tour of the Afram Plains region on Thursday, November 21. During his visit, he shared his plans for the area, emphasizing its importance as a key food basket for Ghana. “Crossing the Afram River earlier today to the two Kwahu Afram Plains constituencies,

I assured the many eager youth, the chiefs, and the people that my administration will not only work on constructing roads into the area, but we will also revive our plans to build a bridge over the river,” he said. His commitment to improving the region’s infrastructure and enhancing the livelihoods of its people was met with strong support from the local communities.

The broken-down pontoon that connects Afram Plains North to Kpando in the Volta Region, which was initially commissioned by the NDC administration under President JEA Mills, will also be replaced, as part of Mr. Mahama’s promises for the region’s development.

Other initiatives that the Afram Plains will benefit from include the establishment of Farmer Services Centres and agro-processing factories. Furthermore, Mr. Mahama’s administration intends to provide essential socio-economic infrastructure, including enhancements to health and educational facilities, aimed at fostering the region’s overall development.
