Liverpool has finalised the signing of Wataru Endo from VfB Stuttgart in an effort to strengthen their midfield this season.
The Japan international is anticipated to fill the vacuum created by Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, who both moved for the Saudi Pro League.
The Reds ultimately signed the 30-year-old after failing to sign their initial targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, both of whom have joined Chelsea.
“I’m very happy right now, and I’m very excited to be joining such a big club as Liverpool.”
“It feels incredible, and this is my dream.” It’s always been an ambition of mine to play in the Premier League for one of the world’s greatest clubs. Endo told Liverpool media, “It’s a dream come true for me.”
Endo arrived in Germany in 2019 and spent four seasons with Stuttgart, where he appeared in 133 games and scored 15 goals.
After creating a reputation for himself in Japan with Shonan Bellmare and Urawa Red Diamonds, the midfielder spent two seasons in Belgium with Sint-Truidense before joining Die Roten.
Endo has two international goals and 50 caps for Japan. He was also a vital player for the Samurai Blue at the 2022 World Cup, appearing four times as they advanced to the finals.
