Kwesimintsim Chief Calls on Mahama to Focus on Western Region if He Wins in December 7 Elections

The Divisional Chief of Kwesimintsim, Nana Ogudzi Essoun III, has urged John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, to prioritize the Western Region in his next administration.

This appeal is based on the region’s significant contributions to the nation.Nana Ogudzi Essoun III made the appeal during a visit from the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

“We, the chiefs of Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality, urge you to prioritize the development of the Western Region. Our region plays a significant role in the country’s development, yet our infrastructure and living conditions remain inadequate. We ask that you take action to address the disparities in our region’s progress,” he pleaded.

Mahama, who is currently campaigning in the region, has pledged to continue both stalled and ongoing projects initiated by the current government if he is elected.

He also plans to revive the region’s economy by bringing back oil companies that left due to current hardships. This is expected to boost the local economy and create jobs for residents through his 24-hour economy policy.

Mr. Mahama raised concerns about the development of the Western Region, highlighting the disparities in its growth despite its crucial contributions to the nation’s progress.

He stated, “Global best practice advises that sitting presidents should allow their achievements to speak for them, rather than self-celebrating before their tenure ends.”

“However, this government is more focused on self-promotion, showcasing unfinished projects and even erecting statues. Ironically, it will likely be the NDC that completes these projects when we return to power. I am confident the NDC will make a strong comeback, bringing more jobs, development, and economic growth.”

“We will focus on reviving the oil and gas industry, which has been struggling due to the current economic difficulties. I plan to engage with these companies, encouraging them to return and provide more job opportunities for our youth. Additionally, we will involve them in our innovative 24-hour economy policy, which is designed to stimulate economic activity and growth,” he assured the public.

Lawyer Fiifi Buckman, the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Kwesimintsim constituency, shared important comments at the mini rally.

“After reviewing the projects initiated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), it is evident that none have been completed. Specifically, the market circle project, road construction, and interchange have all stalled. The only project that has been completed and commissioned is the statue behind the Effia Nkwanta Hospital.”

Fiifi Buckman promised to build libraries for his constituents, saying, “We currently don’t have a single library in our constituency, even though we have both Islamic and secular schools. My vision is to create libraries for both Islamic and mainstream schools, recognizing that motivation is just as crucial as infrastructure. I am dedicated to inspiring students to compete at the national level during my time in office.”
