Kwame Opoku, the striker of Asante Kotoko, professed his undying hope to don the national colors of the Black Stars yet again and pledged to give his best if another opportunity comes his way.
Such is the form of Opoku, who returned to Asante Kotoko on a two-and-a-half-year deal that he is being looked at closely by the national team selectors and most important of all, the man in the dugout, Coach Otto Addo. He looks for a goal-scorer who could perform convincingly as the FIFA World Cup qualifiers beckon this March. Opoku has recently thrown down some hard-to-ignore performances.
This 24-year-old opoku has been in exciting form and has netted four goals in just three matches as the Porcupine Warriors crawled to the third position on the Ghana Premier League table with 31 points. He said, when reflecting on the earlier episode he had with the Black Stars, that he believed he had more to offer. “I believe that during my first time with the Black Stars, I had more to offer but maybe it wasn’t the right moment,” he told Asempa FM.
Now, he plans to capitalize on that determination to get another chance at the national team. “I am focused on making my game better, and if it comes to the point where I will get a chance to play for Black Stars, then I will be ready and willing to give my all for the national team,” he continued.
