Kwabena Kwabena, the renowned Highlife musician, has urged young artistes to embrace the Highlife genre, believing it is key to creating hit songs.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kwabena Kwabena shared his disappointment that many young musicians overlook Highlife music in favor of other genres, even though it has a significant influence on today’s top hits. He emphasized that Highlife is still thriving and that aspiring artistes should embrace the genre if they want to create hit songs.
He pointed out that although some might view Highlife as old-school, many of Ghana’s biggest hits, such as Fameye’s Very Soon, King Paluta’s Makoma, KiDi’s Lomo Lomo, and Stonebwoy’s Jejereje, are all deeply rooted in Highlife. Reflecting on his 20-year career in music, the Aso hitmaker expressed his gratitude to his fans for their continuous support throughout the years.
Kwabena Kwabena expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I am truly humbled. I owe a great deal of thanks to the Almighty God and to my fans across the world for their unwavering support.” He acknowledged that his greatest achievement throughout his career has been his ability to stay relevant in the ever-changing music industry. “Being in the industry for almost two decades is the biggest reward for me.
Next year marks 20 years in the business, and the fact that I have remained relevant all this time is the greatest gift that God has blessed me with,” he shared. Kwabena emphasized that his long-lasting career and continued success are things he holds in high regard, and he credits both his fans and divine support for this remarkable journey.
