King Paluta, the Ghanaian rapper and singer, has submitted a letter to the board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), seeking an explanation for the exclusion of his song, “Makoma,” from nominations in certain categories for the 26th TGMAs.
In a letter to the TGMA board on March 18, King Paluta stated that his song “Makoma” was submitted for four categories: Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. However, after the official announcement of the nominees for the 26th edition of the awards, “Makoma” was not nominated in any of these categories.
Paluta expressed confidence that his song did not violate any moral or ethical standards set by the TGMA board and believes it deserves recognition in at least one of the categories. The letter read, “We humbly write to your honorable board to demand some explanations in connection with the snub of ‘MAKOMA’ by King PALUTA, a song we duly submitted for consideration, which we believe remains Ghana’s most popular song released during the year under review, generating the most excitement among music lovers to date.”
King Paluta’s management noted that they will be ready to engage for possible consideration of the song in the categories submitted for earlier.
