John Dramani Mahama, The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has recounted that the 2024 general election is an election between ‘Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’.
In his assertion, he sees the NDC as representing the will and aspirations of the larger Ghanaians going into the elections. Therefore, Ghana in this context refers to the NDC.
The ex-president Mahama further articulated that the actual opposition party is bent on winning this year’s elections.
He says the NDC will resist any intents by the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rig the forthcoming elections.
He said the December general polls is about Ghana.
This comment came when he was speaking at the funeral of John Tia Akologo who happens to be the former minister of information and member of parliament for Talensi of the upper east region, Mahama implored the clergy to preach not just peace but justice as the nation heads to the polls.
“We are determined to win this election. We are determined to win this election, not for ourselves and not for NDC, but we’re winning this election for Ghana,” John Mahama said.
He added “This election is between Ghana and the NPP, not NDC and NPP because we need to reset our nation. We need to rescue our nation from the crisis in which it has been plunged by the NPP administration.”
