According to Mahama, the current administration has deliberately and methodically positioned its followers within the judicial system.
In his speech at the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) third annual lawyers conference, Mahama asserted that this tactic is intended to shield them from responsibility when they leave office. He calculated that there are already about 80 of these judges operating in the system, and that number is shortly going to surpass 100.
The administration has carried out a deliberate policy of appointing its people to the bench, which has resulted in the judiciary being filled with judges that lean towards the NPP at the moment.
He emphasised that more than 80 judges have been appointed by President Akufo-Addo, and the list is continually growing.
He further said that the goal of the NPP government’s judicial appointment approach was to shield them from responsibility once they left office.
In order to balance the numbers, Mahama urged NDC members to think about pursuing professions in law, particularly on the bench, saying that this was the only way to address the judicial system’s perceived imbalance.
“In order to balance out the current circumstances, I urge some of you to consider careers on the bench. In order to balance the judiciary, we as NDC legal professionals must be ready to serve on the bench as well.
