The 2017 Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year and multiple award-winning gospel star, Joe Mettle reiterated his position about sponsorship from alcoholic brands.
He asserted that he is not willing to accept sponsorship from any company that deals in alcohol, even if he receives such offers for his events or programs.
Joe Mettle made this revelation in an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM, on June 21. “It is a no for me. Let me even put the faith aside, you can only work with brands that complement what you do,”
With further probing, Joe Mettle declared, that he would always refuse sponsorship from these brands but would rather accept sponsorships that come from individual sponsors who may be dealing in the production of alcoholic beverages but not the company or brand.
“If an individual wants to sponsor, I will take it, why not?” he said.
When Joe was questioned about, whether the sponsorship is a silent one coming from an alcoholic brand, he remarked “Because is silent is silent but it hasn’t come, when it comes, we will know.”
He further stated that company sponsorship is often not for free and hence one will be required to pay back.
“When it’s a company, no matter what it is, you will be required to pay it someday, that’s how it is. It will never be free, so the money can go,” he stated.
