During an interview with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, Lopez discussed her experiences from the previous year, which included her marriage to Ben Affleck ending and her planned concert tour being canceled.

Glaser and Lopez started talking about Lopez’s role as Judy Robles in the movie “Unstoppable.” Anthony Robles, an athlete who was born without a leg and went on to become a skilled wrestler, is Robles’ son.

Glaser connected Lopez’s “struggle with low self-esteem” to the actor’s preparation for the part.

Lopez remarked, “My entire life has been proving my enoughness.” You don’t look at yourself that way, so it takes a while to figure out how to deal with the idea that you’re enough, even when you’re very young. You are making decisions because of something, but you are not sure what it is.

“Being ignored, being a middle child, having a very outgoing mom and a dad who worked all day and worked all night and feeling like you weren’t important, like you weren’t a priority,” according to Lopez, were some of the early experiences that contributed to that drive.

That gets ingrained in you, and your parents are probably doing the best they can. I can still relate to them so much more now that I’m a parent,” she remarked. “Although I like my parents, I can’t help but feel that their upbringing and identity have had an impact on me. Until those things begin to show up in your real adult relationships, you truly have no idea.

The topic of her recent difficult months—which have not been easy for Lopez—came up next.

Lopez felt like “…whoa, I got here” while working on the video, her “This Is Me…Now” album, short film, and companion documentary.

When Lopez filed for divorce in August, the widely reported connection between her and Affleck—which saw them getting back together decades after their first engagement ended—came to even more notice.

It appears that she is staring forward instead of back.

When you say you’re just going to be on your own, Lopez remarked, “Now I’m excited.” “Yes, I am not looking for anyone. After all I have done in the last 25 to 30 years in these various difficult circumstances, what can I f**kng do when I’m on my own?”

She asked, “What if I’m just free?”

In December, “Unstoppable” will have a limited theatrical release.
