Inaki Williams rejoins Athletic Bilbao teammates after Ghana’s AFCON exit

Inaki Williams set to rejoin Athletic Bilbao teammates on after Ghana's AFCON exit

The 28-year-old is expected to play in Wednesday’s Copa del Rey match at the San Mames against Barcelona.

With Ghana failing to seal a spot in the round of sixteen,  a private jet was waiting for confirmation. Williams, who played just a small part in Ghana’s AFCON campaign, will now play for Athletic Bilbao again in their next match.

Inaki Williams played just two minutes in the last group match against Mozambique, started against Egypt but was criticized for a mistake that resulted in a goal, and appeared as a substitute in the opening game against Cape Verde.

Following Cameroon’s decisive win over the Gambia, which mathematically eliminated Ghana’s remote possibility of progress, Ghana’s elimination was confirmed

With a thrilling 3-2 victory on Tuesday night, the Indomitable Lions, led by Rigobert Song, wrapped up third place in Group C and ended Ghana’s involvement in the competition.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association fired Black Stars coach Chris Hughton due to the team’s dismal performance.
