Haaland and Bonmati Wins UEFA Players of the Year.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and manager Pep Guardiola were named UEFA Champions League winners on Thursday.

Haaland was named the best men’s player of the year, while Guardiola was named the best coach. Aitana Bonmati and Sarina Wiegman, who won the women’s player and coach awards, were also honoured during the ceremony.

Haaland’s outstanding exploits propelled him to victory over rivals Kevin De Bruyne and Lionel Messi. His pivotal involvement in Manchester City’s historic season, which included titles in the Champions League, English Premier League, and FA Cup, cemented his spot as the top men’s player.

Guardiola, the architect of Manchester City’s success, has been awarded the best coach of the year. Guardiola’s strategic prowess earned him the prized title despite stiff competition from Luciano Spalletti and Simone Inzaghi. Unfortunately, the Spanish manager was unable to accept the trophy in person because he is recovering from back surgery.

Sarina Wiegman, who won the Women’s Coach of the Year title, was also honoured during the occasion. Wiegman led the England women’s team to the World Cup final and victory in the Finalissima against Brazil in April at Wembley Stadium.

Aitana Bonmati, who helped Barcelona win the Women’s Champions League and the Spanish league, was named women’s player of the year.

With five goals and eight assists, the 25-year-old has a competition-high 13 goal contributions in the Champions League.
