Following the reports gathered from the Ghana Grid company( GRIDCo) and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The country will experience a three week power interruption in power supply owing to shortage of gas supply from Nigeria.
According to report from GRIDCo and ECG the West African pipe line (WAPCo) has issued a statement explaining that ” the reduction in gas supply due to maintenance works being undertaken by a gas supplier in Nigeria and is projected to last for three weeks”
The maintenance would have an adverse effect causing a reduction in overall power generation capacity in Ghana which would result in load shedding in the entire country during the period of the maintenance.
GRIDCo and ECG however assures Ghanaians that they would be collaborating with several stakeholders of the power supply chain to resolve and optimize the resources that are available to ensure less impact on users.
The Electricity Company of Ghana and it partner Ghana Grid company wish to inform the general public aware that due to the reduction which began on Wednesday 12 June 2024 certain areas in the across the country would experience load shedding ( Dumsor)
The West African pipe line company released a statement explaining that the reduction of gas supply could be associated with the maintenance in Nigeria by a gas supplier which will last for three weeks.
