Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, the Director of Public Affairs, signed a news statement stating

Additionally, it is said that the attackers were first detained by the government forces and then put to death. Additionally, it was alleged that in order to secure the release of the attackers who had died, the Missiga Assemblyman personally approached the Bawku Detachment at around 1930 hours. GAF wants to make it clear that these accusations are untrue and baseless.

“The AK-47 rifle with serial number 81-1/13024074 that was examined by members of the Bawku Divisional Police is presently in their own possession. As much as the GAF laments the attackers’ deaths, it is regrettable that the violence in the Bawku general region is intensifying.

The General Assembly stated, “Reports from the 11 Mechanized Battalion stationed in Bawku suggest that conflict factions seem to have resumed escalation of violence with lethal results.” The 40-year-old Mamprusi man named Issah Halidu was killed on Friday, January 12, 2024, at roughly 1455 hours. This marked the start of the current violent spree.

The Ghanaian Armed Forces reaffirmed their dedication to protecting the fundamental rights of human rights and the inherent worth of every person.

They underlined that all actions they take while performing their duties are constrained by rigorous adherence to legal frameworks and regulations, with an emphasis on safeguarding the public’s safety and rights.

Bawku has been in the news recently because on Wednesday, January 17, two people died and four more were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a gathering of people in the town’s community center.
