Chelsea has announced the signing of Belgian youngster Romeo Lavia after successful talks.
Last season, the midfielder had a strong season with Southampton, participating in 29 Premier League games and attracting the attention of a number of clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 19-year-old, on the other hand, chose to join Chelsea in a £58 million move, where he will join a wealth of talents in midfield, including British record acquisitions Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Chelsea and contributing to this exciting project.” It’s an amazing football club with a fantastic history, and I’m very excited to get started.
“I can’t wait to meet all of my new teammates and build chemistry with them so that we can achieve great things together,” Lavia remarked in his first interview with the club.
Lavia joined Southampton from Manchester City only last summer and has quickly risen to become one of the Premier League’s greatest midfielders.
Lavia began his career at Anderlecht in Belgium, where he spent eight years before joining Manchester City at the age of 16.
