Bawumia To Mahama:Insults and verbal attacks won’t win you votes

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has instructed National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate John Dramani Mahama to refrain from using derogatory language or slurs throughout his campaign.

Dr. Bawumia states that he believes Mr. Mahama would not receive any votes in the forthcoming elections via insults and verbal attacks. Additionally, Dr. Bawumia stated that they merely demonstrate Mr. Mahama’s lack of ideas.

Following Mr. Mahama’s recent criticism of the church, traditional leaders, and civil society groups (CSOs) for allegedly failing to hold the NPP government responsible for its governance, his remarks follow suit.

Dr. Bawumia expressed dismay in Mahama’s remarks while on his campaign tour around the Greater Accra Region. He said that the former President’s remarks were a reflection of his anguish over the prospect of losing the upcoming elections.
“We must come together and tell the government that their time is up,” Mr. Mahama had stated on Sunday, September 15, during a campaign event at the Okaikwei North Constituency. They did not perform up to par. However, you will discover that some Muslim leaders, pastors, chiefs, and traditional authorities are praising them for a job well done and informing Bawumia that he has performed well. Do you wish to succeed with this poor leadership style? Mahama asked.

He went on to accuse these organizations of hypocrisy, saying, “This nation is being pulled back by hypocrisy.” Regardless of who holds public office, we always need to tell the truth. These are the things that prevent us from growing.

However, Dr. Bawumia responded to hum by saying, “He’s realized he is about losing miserably, so everything gets him angry.” He has been disparaging clergy members, traditional leaders, imams, and CSOs, as I have heard. They are hypocrites, he claims.

“As politicians, we need to maintain a minimum level of decency in the language we use,” he continued. The elections are about ideas, not insults; insulting people is what happens when you don’t have any ideas. We believe we have audacious answers to issues.
