Babs Direction, the popular Ghanaian music video director Awudu Musa, has urged local television networks to focus on investing in Ghanaian content rather than repeatedly airing foreign material.
Babs Direction’s remarks follow criticism from popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye, who accused some Ghanaian TV stations of airing her movies without permission. Responding to the controversy in a Twitter post on April 23, 2025, Babs Direction questioned why local TV stations prioritize foreign content over homegrown productions. He asked, “Why are our local TV stations more focused on broadcasting foreign movies, often dubbed in our local languages, instead of investing in original Ghanaian content?”
In a follow-up post, Babs Direction emphasized the need for collaboration between broadcasters and creatives to develop homegrown content that accurately reflects Ghanaian culture and stories.
Being the first to address the issue, Babs Direction suggested that Ghanaian TV stations should bring creatives together for discussions on collaboration and content creation specifically for local platforms. His criticism comes in the wake of rising concerns about potential copyright violations by Ghanaian TV stations airing Nigerian movies without proper authorization.
Babs Direction has collaborated with top-level artists such as Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata, and others, further establishing his influence in the Ghanaian music and entertainment industry.
