Asiedu Nketia-All the red lines for a coup in Ghana has been crossed.

According to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ghana is perched precariously.
He claimed that the nation’s current economic situation is a recipe for a coup d’état.
The only reason there hasn’t been a coup during this government, according to Mr. Nketiah, also known as General Mosquito, is because of the nation’s prior experiences.

The only reason there hasn’t been a coup during this government, according to Mr. Nketiah, also known as General Mosquito, is because of the nation’s prior experiences.

In an interview with CTV, Asiedu Nketiah stated that if it weren’t for Ghana’s past and the hardships people endured under military dictatorships, the Akufo-Addo government’s level of corruption and egregious ineptitude may have easily resulted in a coup.

“All the lines that have previously been crossed in Ghana that have resulted in coups have been crossed. The consequences (of poor governance) experienced in the past are not what we are experiencing today, though, because the nation has learned its lessons.

He went on to say that military leaders in the past have used force to overthrow civilian leaders because they believed it to be their last option.

The government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was also referred to by General Mosquito as the most dishonest in Ghana.

Mr. Nketia believes that the current political situation in Ghana is best characterised as “state capture.” He said that a group of people had taken control of the government and were utilising it for their own personal gain.

The NDC National Chairman hinted, “So once it happens that way, you compromise all the state institutions, all the institutions of good governance, and so on, are all compromised, and so instead of having rule of law you have rule by law.”

“Instead of the rule of law, we have rule by law,” he continued. Where someone else is in charge and he is exploiting the law to further his own interests, as we are currently witnessing in Ghana, it will not be feasible to reform the system.

Mr. Nketia added that it was impossible to overhaul the current administration.
