Armed Policemen and Civilians Disrupt Live Production at Metro TV Studios

 

Some armed policemen and civilians stormed the premises of Metro TV near Alisa Hotel, North Ridge in Accra, on the morning of Wednesday, November 27, 2024, to disrupt a live production.

 

Randy Abbey, the host of the station’s morning show, announced on air that the armed individuals entered the premises intending to harm some security personnel who tried to prevent them from accessing the studios.The motive behind the attack by the armed men remains unclear.

 

“We don’t know the reason, but they were attempting to forcibly enter the studio,” said Randy Abbey.

 

At the time of the incident, Kwasi Pratt, Editor of the Insight Newspaper, and Dr. Richard Asante Yeboah, Executive Secretary of the Public Servants Housing Loan Scheme, were guests on the Good Morning Ghana show.

 

Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper and a panelist on the show, reacted during the host’s narration, stating, “They are still trying to enter the studio.” Randy Abbey noted that the station’s private security was attempting to stop the intruders.

 

The incident led to an abrupt break in the show, as announced by the host.

 

Reports indicate that one security guard of the TV station sustained injuries during the altercation.

 

Noble Crosby Annan of TV3, reporting from the scene, confirmed that police officers arrived at the premises to restore calm.

 

The management of the TV station is reportedly holding a critical meeting to determine the motive behind the attack and decide on the way forward.
