Alan Kyeremanten ought to have abandoned the NPP years ago. Nyaho-Tamakloe

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has questioned the timing of Alan Kyeremanten’s party departure.

He
claimed that the previous minister of trade and industry ought to have quit the party as soon as he realised there was a problem in the administration.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe expressed his opinion that Kyerematen’s chances of winning the 2024 elections as an independent candidate are small and that the timing of his resignation was improper in an interview with Citi FM that aired on Eyewitness News.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said that Kyerematen’s protracted service in the Akufo-Addo administration may interfere with his hopes of running for president as an independent.

Alan will have a very difficult time winning an election as an independent since all of his appeals, especially to young people, will fall on deaf ears. He has been working for the Akufo-Addo administration for almost seven years, and when Alan should have resigned, he didn’t.

“Alan should have left the government particularly when he realised the rot going on in the party and that would have automatically turned him into a leader in the future but he didn’t do that.”

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe also criticised the NPP’s leadership and the current state of affairs within the party. In his view, the party has strayed from its original ideals, allowing a number of harmful elements to thrive.

He cited problems within the party, including selfishness, incompetence, tribalism, hubris, and greed.

“If we were running our party like it is done in the USA or Britain, these things would not have happened. Our party is full of selfishness, incompetence, tribalism, arrogance, and greed and that is what has brought us here today. Our part was not like this years back or else I would not have been part of it.”

On Monday, September 25, Alan Kyerematen announced his resignation from the New Patriotic Party in order to run as an independent.
