President Akufo-Addo has called on electorates to fulfill their civic duty by voting for their preferred candidate in the upcoming elections.
On the eve of the December 7 elections, President Akufo-Addo addressed the nation, urging Ghanaians to uphold peace, tolerance, and mutual respect during the voting process. He encouraged citizens to cast their ballots freely and responsibly to ensure a peaceful and prosperous Ghana.
“Let us go and cast our ballots in peace and dignity and in an environment of tolerance and mutual respect… Each one of us should go out and do his or her duty to ensure peaceful and prosperous Ghana and vote freely for your preferred candidate. Do this in peace and in dignity,” he emphasized.
The president also expressed confidence in the Electoral Commission’s ability to deliver credible elections, highlighting its efficiency and transparency. “We have a good reason to be proud of the Electoral Commission, the body that is charged with running our elections. Today, it is a much more efficient and transparent institution, and we are all ready to entrust it with the responsibility of delivering free, fair, and transparent elections that reflect the will of the people,” Akufo-Addo stated.
President Akufo-Addo further urged Ghanaians to refrain from any acts of violence and to cooperate with electoral officials and security personnel to ensure peaceful elections.
President Akufo-Addo called on all Ghanaians to cooperate with electoral officials to facilitate the smooth execution of their duties, emphasizing the importance of upholding the country’s legacy of successful elections. “I urge all of us to cooperate with the electoral officials to enable them to carry out their duties effectively, ensuring that we can all take pride in adding another successful election to our history,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo reassured Ghanaians of the security agencies’ readiness, led by the police, to ensure peace, law, and order throughout the electoral process. He emphasized the importance of cooperation, urging citizens to support the efforts to maintain a calm and safe environment.
“Let us all cooperate with them to ensure that the election is conducted in an atmosphere devoid of intimidation and violence,” he stressed.
