Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, has stated that no threats or intimidation from the government will deter the Minority from its determination to win power in 2028.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament during the 2025 Budget debate, accused the NDC government of politically persecuting former officials. He stated, “All you know is persecution, all you know is arrest them. But I want to assure you twe in the Minority and the NPP will walk through this valley of the shadow of death. We will not fear any evil.”
Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, further emphasized, “God will be with us. You can decide to arrest all of us, you can threaten all of us with arrest, but we will come back stronger and defeat you in 2028. This government has reneged on its commitment to the people of Ghana.” He criticized the NDC government for focusing on harassing political opponents instead of creating jobs for the youth and pointed to the mass dismissal of public sector workers as a clear sign of the government’s failure to tackle employment issues.
Afenyo-Markin asserted, “You believe that arresting people will earn the support of Ghanaians and secure power for you again. However, you will not regain power in 2028; we will prevail.”
He further stated, “They entered government with no clear plan to create jobs; rather, they concentrated on persecuting, arresting political opponents, and denying them their basic fundamental human rights.”
