IGP audio doctored;Second senior police witness insists leaked; fingers IGP

According to the second top police witness in the investigation into the audio recording that was leaked about the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the tape has been altered.

The “tape is incomplete,” according to Superintendent George Asare, and according to his information, IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is the one who planned the entire recording and leak.

On Monday, September 4, Supt. Asare appeared before the committee’s seven members.

When asked if he had a conversation with former NPP Northern Region Chairman Daniel Bugri Naabu, he responded, “I gave him other information that was not on the video.

“[This is] just to demonstrate that the tape has been altered.”

He has previously said that the entire recording was “cut and paste.”

He informed the committee, “Mr. Chair, there is some cut and paste on the audio, but despite that, the voice in it is mine.

This is exactly in accordance with the testimony provided by George Alex Mensah, the director general of operations, who came before the committee as well.

On Thursday, August 31, he emphasised, “Hon Chair, I identified certain voices that resemble my voice, but I cannot declare definitely that these are my voices.

Both of them have accused the IGP of leaking information.

The two “boys” sent by Chief Bugri Naabu to the IGP to obtain CVs have indicated their willingness to appear before the committee as witnesses for Supt. Asare.

He has stated that he will provide the committee with further information about the present IGP’s operations behind closed doors.

I’m glad to be speaking about this topic behind closed doors, and I’m more than ready to do so.
