A five-person committee has been established by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to decide on the benefits and compensation of Article 71 office holders.
The group, which is led by Dr. Janet Fofie, a former chair of the Public Services Commission, will also take the constitution into consideration when determining the salaries and benefits of those who occupy political office or other positions.
“I must indicate that in recent times, [there has been] a lot of public discussion surrounding the salary of public officers, except the primary of those of Article 71 office holders, and whether or not, notwithstanding the constitutional demands were deserving of what is being paid to us,” President Akufo-Addo said during the committee’s inauguration.
“In view of the difficulties currently facing our country’s economy. It’s possible that your work should concentrate on these issues as well and offer suggestions for how to resolve them.”, according to President Akufo-Addo.
