Fatawu Issahaku, a Ghanaian winger, has completed a season-long loan move to former Premier League winners Leicester City from Sporting Lisbon.
The talented player was unable to break into Sporting Lisbon’s first squad, triggering his transfer to Leicester. He will now join Enzo Maresca’s squad during the upcoming Sky Bet Championship season in 2023/24.
Issahaku expressed his delight, saying, “I’m so happy.
It was the ideal time for me to join Leicester. I chose them because I believe they can help me grow and evolve. [Enzo Maresca] informed me of his ideas for me and how he wants me to play – how he wants to assist me with my football.”
Issahaku rose to notoriety after being named the best player in Ghana’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Mauritania in 2021. His impressive efforts won him a place in the Black Stars, and he will continue to play for the team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Issahaku was also a member of the U-23 team for the Olympic Games qualifications earlier this year, appearing three times at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. This move to Leicester City is considered as a significant step forward in his career as he strives to develop and evolve under Enzo Maresca’s tutelage.
