To stop Akan ‘propaganda’ against the NPP, Egyapa Mercer wants Bawumia to be elected.

Representative for Sekondi By overwhelmingly supporting Vice President Dr. Alhaji Muhamudu Bawumia at the party’s super delegates conference, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), according to Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has the chance to dispel the false propaganda claim that the party is exclusive to Akan people.

“Over the years, there has been persistent misinformation that the NPP is an Akan party, and because of the apparent vulnerabilities of some people, this misinformation is making its way around in some way.

And for anyone who values statistics in relation to politics and elections, we are compelled to break it. And what better chance than to support Dr. Bawumia?

He is, therefore, fervently urging delegates to support Dr. Bawumia in order to demonstrate that the NPP prefers inclusivity.

“Voting for Dr. Bawumia will only show that the NPP values diversity and that anyone may join the party at any level if they have the skills and aptitude to do so. And with such distinction among the competitors, Dr. Bawumia stands out.

On the morning episode of Connect FM on Thursday, August 24, Andrew Egyapa Mercer discussed the upcoming NPP super delegates convention.

All of the candidates, in his opinion, are very competent, have supported the party, and are capable of leading it, but Dr. Bawumia stands out for his contributions, in his opinion.”Voting for Dr. Bawumia will only show that the NPP values diversity and that, if you have the skills and aptitude, you can succeed

to any position within the group. And with such distinction among the competitors, Dr. Bawumia stands out.

The winning of the general elections in 2024 is the ultimate goal. In order to establish who among those who, as I mentioned, are highly qualified, their contributions, and their competence are most suited to assist in achieving the goal—which is not personal but all-encompassing—we look at all of them. And I’m very certain that it’s Dr. Bawumia.

The idea that “the swell of force behind Dr. Bawumia including MPs have been whipped into line” was refuted by him.

“That conversation is irrelevant. Other candidates are supported by past government appointees as well as current ministers and MPs. Have they also received a beating. In my opinion, no. Why therefore should anyone imply that of the Vice President’s supporters?

Tell you what, unless you are not a member of the party and do not comprehend the politics that we do, he said. Nobody should inform you what time it is or who can assist us in achieving the goal in its entirety.

He discusses the Vice President’s keen interest in advancing Sekondi’s development agenda and emphasises that endorsing his campaign is only right and proper.

“The Vice President has continually shown that he cares about the Sekondi people. The Vice President’s particular affection for the Sekondi people has given significant momentum to ongoing road construction, the renovation of Sekondi Market, and other monumental projects that I will shortly announce. Why then won’t I and my members continue to support him so that he can continue to serve the constituency?

He is confident that the majority of delegates will support Dr. Bawumia in order to assist solidify the victories already achieved and continue to build on them.
