Minority invited by the Police to discuss modalities for their protest against BoG Governor

In order to discuss their upcoming protest against Dr. Ernest Addison, Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Police have asked the leadership of the Minority in Parliament to a meeting.

On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, the meeting is planned to take place at the Police Regional Office in Accra.

It is to talk about the protest’s rules of procedure.

The Accra Regional Police Command acknowledges receipt of your letter No. OML/PH/23/0001 dated 21/08/2023 in respect of the above subject matter, the Accra Regional Police command stated in a letter titled “Re: Notice of Public protest” in response to the letter that the Minority wrote to them informing them of the intention to protest.

The command would like to invite you to a meeting to discuss the details of your planned protest.

During the NDC’s ‘Moment of Truth’ address on Tuesday, August 8 at the party’s headquarters, the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, requested that the BoG officials quit.

He said, “We demand the immediate resignation of the Central Bank Governor and his deputies within 21 days from now.

“Those responsible for this specific action, which unleashed economic hardship and financial distress on the already-struggling people of Ghana, must be held accountable. In truth, the suffering masses of Ghanaians can no longer accept impunity of the highest degree. We must not permit risky precedents to be prepared for coming leaders,” he continued.
