All ten candidates for the next Special Delegates Conference have been instructed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Cape Coast North Constituency in the Central Region to be courteous and to support the chosen candidates.
The number of NPP candidates vying for the top spot is too high, according to Mr. Stephen Kojo Arhin, but their post-election togetherness will help them win the 2024 election.
Before the NPP’s special delegates congress on August 26, 2023, the chairman was speaking in an interview with Cape Coast’s Onua FM.
“Ten candidates. I find it difficult since there are too many of them. The seventeen candidates who ran for office in 2007 should be kept in mind, the chairman continued.
“They [aspirants] should have been spoken to so that in the party’s online forum, about three or four have contested,” Mr. Kojo Arhin stated.
“This would have cut down on election expenses, but everyone wants to run. All 10 are in the party, and we will go and get them on Saturday. However, if you lose, I advise against going to sleep. If things work out that way, it indicates that you had a purpose for coming. For you to succeed, you must team up with and assist the victor the 8,” the chairman explained.
Breaking the Eight
“The NPP will ‘break the 8’ due to good work because what we experienced has never happened before,” the chairman declared. We experienced the same issue in 1983, but we are certain that we will overcome it. However, breaking the eight is no laughing matter.
“What happened in the Parliament in the 2020 election was not good; that is why there has not been a reshuffle in government, so I am urging the NPP aspirants to tell us what they can do to wrestle their various seats that were lost in the 2020 election,” the candidate said.
“Some [of the MPs] attend Parliament for the perks. As soon as they win, they move on and forget about the party and the supporters.
orphan in Cape Coast North
Nothing will make Mr. Kofi Arhin change his mind about taking Cape Coast North away from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 election, according to him.
“Nothing can change the fact that I want the seat. I’ll make sure we find someone who can support us in winning the seat. A candidate capable of winning the 2024 election will be chosen. We shouldn’t run for office merely for political reasons. Someone who will make a sacrifice for the party is needed. one who will support the group one who will announce wise policies.
Mr. Arhin noted that the NDC currently holding the seat has done nothing for the constituency in terms of performance.
“The MP is doing little to help this district. Stasis prevails in Cape Coast North. Nothing is visible to us. Nothing is being developed, but because we [NPP] faced difficulties in 2020, he was given everything.
