2026 World Cup Qualifier: Black Stars thump Chad 5-0

Both teams played cautiously during the first forty-five minutes of the match. Ghana’s midfield was impressive, and they used mobility and fast passes to disturb the Mali national team. Jordan Ayew put Mali’s defense to the test with his speed on the wings, but Thomas Partey kept the pace steady.

On the other hand, Mali made threats by launching counterattacks, giving the Black Stars nervous moments thanks to Benjamin Asare, Alexander Djiku, Salisu among others. Fans were expecting fireworks after the first half, which finished goalless despite a few close chances for both teams.

The breakthrough came just four minutes into the second half. Following a well-executed set piece, Alexander Djiku leaped inside the box and headed beyond the Malian goalie.

Djiku’s strike in the 49th minute sent the Ghanaian supporters into an uproar.. It was more than just a goal; it was a declaration, demonstrating Ghana’s tenacity and capacity to seize important chances.

The three points,  moved Ghana to 19 points at the top of Group I and put them one step closer to a desired trip to North America in 2026, were invaluable to Otto Addo and his team. It was confirmation to the supporters back home that the Black Stars are once again a formidable opponent.
