Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has confirmed that no Ghanaian has been killed or harmed in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
In a Facebook post dated June 16, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa assured the public that there have been no Ghanaian casualties or injuries in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. He stated that evacuation efforts from Iran are progressing well, and Ghana’s embassy in Israel has located 922 Ghanaians residing in the country, including 65 students enrolled in six universities.
He noted that regular communication channels have been established with the Ghanaian community in Israel. However, due to Israel’s declaration of a state of emergency and border closures, evacuations from Israel cannot proceed without direct authorization from Israeli authorities—a process Ghana is actively pursuing.
The conflict, now in its fourth day, has intensified, with both nations exchanging missile strikes. Iran’s latest attack damaged an Israeli oil refinery and part of the power grid, prompting global calls for diplomacy and de-escalation.
