Famous Nigerian gospel singer and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, has been asked to perform at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
The pastor from Akwa Ibom shared the news on his Instagram page, posting a poster of the event and saying: “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025.”
The News Agency of Nigeria says the U.S. Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast is a non-political faith-based event. It is held once every four years prior to the change of government. It is a prayer and worship to support the U.S. government and president.
The event will take place at the renowned Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom and will be hosted by Reverend Merrie Turner. They have big speakers lined up before Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance are sworn in, including Dr. Alveda King and Pastor Mario Bramnick.
Bassey is famous for his strong worship music and for starting the Hallelujah Challenge, an online Christian worship event. He is well-known around the world for songs like “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.” His music includes different styles like jazz, hymns, and medleys, making him one of Nigeria’s most admired gospel ministers.
