Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has deposed the Chief of Adumoa in the Ashanti Region’s Afigya Kwabre District.
Nana Osei Tiri Ababio is claimed to have been involved in a slew of problems, including land disputes with other chiefs.
He is also charged of breaking certain customary procedures.
In delivering his verdict, the Asantehene stated that after warning the Chief to stop his conduct, he failed to do so.
Otumfuo, who was furious at the chief’s failure to follow his stipulations, ordered that the royal slipper Nana Osei Tiri Ababio was wearing be removed.
According to reports, this is the fourth time the local chief has been dragged before the Asantehene for land and other related issues.
On Monday, the Otumfuo issued his judgement at a meeting of the Kumasi Traditional Council.
The latest destoolment was four days ago, making this the third in three months.
Following unlawful mining claims, the Chief of Bekwai-Abodom was destooled on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Nana Saforo Koto was accused of selling unlicensed lands to illicit miners for operations within the rulership’s catchment area.
With nearly 20 years on the throne, the Chief of Aduamoa, who also serves as the Nkonsonhene, is one of the Asante kingdom’s longest-serving traditional rulers.
In Asante rulership and traditions, the Nkonsonhene plays an important part in Gyaase traditional practises.
