Kufuor Declares Bawumia’s Ambition to Lead the Entire Nation, Not Just the NPP

John Agyekum Kufuor, former President, has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, as the best choice for president in this year’s general elections.

He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s vision and strategies are designed to alleviate hardships and promote national progress.

Mr. Kufuor made these remarks while addressing a mini-rally in Abuakwa South on Wednesday, November 27.

“I have been paying attention. Bawumia’s policies, particularly his focus on training the youth in entrepreneurial and digital skills, are commendable. If you don’t want this, what do you want? So I plead with you, he is not just coming for the NPP but for the whole country,” he said.

Mr. Kufuor also defended his decision to campaign for Dr. Bawumia.“I am being criticized for sharing my opinions on national issues due to my role as a statesman, but experience and wisdom are attributes that often accompany age,” he remarked.

He added, “The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is my political home, and it was through this party that I achieved the presidency. My association with the NPP is deeply rooted, and I believe in its principles and vision for the country. Moreover, my ‘son,’ Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has been elected as the party’s presidential candidate, and I have every reason to support him wholeheartedly.

“Dr. Bawumia’s expertise is not new to me. During my tenure as president, he was part of the Bank of Ghana team, and his performance during that time was outstanding. It was a challenging period when Ghana was grappling with severe financial distress, but through the dedicated efforts of individuals like him, we were able to stabilize and revitalize the economy.

His contributions were instrumental in laying the foundation for progress, and I am confident that he has the vision, experience, and determination to lead the nation forward.”
